“He is not right” – Arsenal prepared to let star midfielder go out on loan in January

|

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are prepared to let star midfielder Mesut Ozil leave on loan in January.

What’s the word?

With Ozil having been demoted to a squad player in Unai Emery’s side, the World Cup winner remains as the highest wage earner at the club, taking home £350,000-per-week.

The 30-year-old’s contract expires in 2021 and the Daily Mail believe that security fears have affected the Germany international after being subjected to an attack along with teammate Sead Kolasinac earlier in the year.

If Ozil was to be made available and the Gunners put him on the market, MLS side DC United would be contacted as they were reported to be interested in the 30-year-old in the summer.

An unrepairable relationship

Unai Emery and Mesut Ozil’s working relationship is one of the worst kept secrets in football. After the German did not travel with the squad to play Manchester United on Monday, the manager did not go into much detail as to why Ozil didn’t feature at Old Trafford.

He told Sky Sports (quoted by the Mirror), “He is not right. I decided that this is the XI and that’s it.”

With the German arguably Arsenal’s best player, the manager took a gamble that didn’t pay off as he was axed from the squad that travelled to Manchester. He has started just one game this season and Emery has preferred the newly appointed skipper Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the centre of the park for the Gunners.

This is a saga which has gone on since the end of last season and it is hampering the club’s progress to climb up the Premier League table. The situation must be resolved for the club to move forward and if it means moving Ozil onto another club to free funds for another player, so be it.
