Youngster Joe Willock has been on the receiving end of congratulations from plenty of Arsenal fans after news of an expected promotion to the first-team broke.
While the club are yet to confirm his updated squad status, Willock has been rewarded with a new squad number ahead of the new season and has been training with the senior side – indicating he may be more central to Unai Emery’s plans next season.
Despite being limited to just six appearances last season, Willock impressed on numerous occasions, including with his brace against Blackpool in the FA Cup and scoring in Arsenal’s Europa League campaign away in Ukraine against Vorskla.
His Europa League final cameo – after replacing Mesut Ozil – also offered a brief glimpse into his talents on the big stage, and his rise to the senior squad has been welcomed by lots of excited Gunners fans.
Sporting No28 for the first time, the 19-year-old’s return to action in pre-season training has many Arsenal supporters looking forward to watching him in the year ahead, with many holding high hopes for the teenager in 2019/20 – as the tweets below show:
