Football fans across the country are waking up to their new season’s fixture list as the calendar for the new Premier League season is revealed.

It’s usually a time for optimism where the woes of the previous campaign can be left to the past as fans can look forward to a new beginning when the season kicks off in August.

But for Arsenal fans, this season’s fixtures have done little to lift the doom and gloom at the club – and some can’t see Unai Emery lasting the pace.

The Gunners kick off away at Newcastle before taking on Liverpool and Spurs in the first month of the campaign, face Chelsea and Manchester United either side of the New Year, and a daunting first trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tops a tough run-in.

And supporters don’t seem too optimistic that, coupled with a Europa League campaign, Emery will get the results he needs before fans get on his back, following the failures last year that saw the team endure some ugly away form and fall short of their pre-season targets.

With fans fearing the same again, some attempted to predict when the inevitable dreaded sack will be headed the Spaniard’s way:
