What areas should he improve in January?

|

The January transfer window is just over six weeks away from opening and Unai Emery will surely be looking to bolster his current squad ahead of the second half of the season following his promising start to life at Arsenal.

Emery succeeded Arsene Wenger at the end of last season and managed to make a few signings over the summer to enhance the squad he inherited from the Frenchman.

The Spaniard mainly acquired defensive-minded players as this is the area the Gunners have struggled with in recent seasons, these being Sokratis from Dortmund, Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free from Juventus, defensive midfield duo Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria and Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient, and of course goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

All of Emery’s signings have featured in the side so far this season, some more regularly than others, and it is becoming evident as to how he wants his team to play and what he requires from his players, this being technically gifted footballers, tenacity and stamina.

Emery has had a good start to life at the Emirates and his team currently sit fifth in the Premier League table with 24 points from 12 games. Plus, the 46-year-old has guided his team through the Europa League group stages with ease after just four games. In addition, the side are also on a 16-game unbeaten run in all competitions. So far so good, and improvement is expected going forward from here, and the January transfer window couldn’t come at a better time.

It is unknown as to how much cash the board will hand over to Emery in January, but the Gunners boss is understood to already be drawing up a wish list in order to progress.

Taking this into account, what area(s) do you believe the boss should strengthen during the winter period?
