Manchester United have joined Arsenal in their pursuit of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, according to Telefoot (via Tribal Football).

The Ivorian international was originally linked with the Gunners at the beginning of the month, but it seems that their Premier League rivals have now also entered the race for the player.

Pepe has had a superb start to the season for Lille. He scored a hat-trick against Amiens in a 3-2 away win on Saturday, taking his tally to four from the opening five Ligue One fixtures.

The 23-year-old has not only been scoring goals but also creating them too. He contributed two assists in the 3-0 home win against Guingamp late last month, while he provided one in the 3-1 victory over Rennes in the first game of the campaign.

Pepe was actually very close to joining Lyon before the transfer window closed in August. Telefoot reported that the French side had a €30m (£27m) bid accepted by Lille but the player turned down the move.
