Arsenal are interested in making a move for Everton teenager Ryan Astley, according to the Mirror.

Despite only being 16 years of age, the defender has already featured for the Toffees at Under 23 level with coach David Unsworth a massive fan of the player.

However, Astley is still only on a scholarship at Everton, and the Gunners are monitoring the centre-back in view to offering him a professional contract.

His talent has already been recognised at international level as well, with the defender having played for Wales’s Under 19 side despite not even turning 17 yet.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has already shown that he is willing to bring through young players into the first team.

Emile Smith Rowe got his first senior start for the club last night in the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup. Matteo Guendouzi also started with striker Eddie Nketiah named on the bench for the game.
