Arsenal have already been active in the transfer market, signing Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and two more faces are expected to arrive in north London imminently.

The BBC reports that Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira and France U20 international Matteo Guendouzi both held medicals with the Gunners on Monday and deals are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

22-year-old Torreira starred for Uruguay during their World Cup campaign and a £26m deal with Sampdoria has been on the cards for some time, although confirmation was delayed due to La Celeste’s continued involvement in Russia.

Uruguay’s quarter-final exit means Torreira’s deal can now be completed, although he is likely to be given leave along with Arsenal’s other World Cup players, before returning to London Colney next month.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Guendouzi will sign from Lorient, the same club that Arsenal captured Laurent Koscielny from, and he is seen as a player for the future rather than one who can provide an immediate impact to the first-team squad.
