Arsenal look set to see the departure of an experienced player imminently, after giving the green light for him to secure an exit.

TurkishFootball report Besiktas are closing in on the signature of Colombia international David Ospina, who featured for his nation in the World Cup in Russia, and have already agreed a deal in principle with the player’s entourage.

29-year-old Ospina has fallen down the Gunners’ pecking order following the signing of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen and has just 12 months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, with no sign of an extension being offered.

Arsenal will allow Ospina to leave but it is not clear what their demands will be, with it added that Besiktas are reluctant to pay a fee for a player they can sign for nothing in 2019 – which suggests a loan switch could be on the cards.

Since signing for the Gunners in 2014, Ospina has made just 29 Premier League appearances after spending the majority of his spell as second-choice to Petr Cech.
