Arsenal could be involved in bidding war for £45m rated Serie A star

|

Arsenal have been named as one of the teams interested in signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Corriere Dello Sport (via Tribal Football) report that Chelsea currently lead the Gunners and Liverpool in the race to sign the Senegalese international.

Koulibaly’s current club are said to be determined to keep the defender at the San Paolo, but they are bracing themselves for a bid from the Blues.

A bidding war could ensue once the first offer is received for the 26 year old, with the player valued at £45m.

The centre back has been crucial to Napoli this season, with the Partenopei only conceding 21 times in 31 league games; the second best defensive record behind table toppers Juventus.

It is unlikely that the Serie A side will allow Koulibaly to leave without a fight, and with his contract still having three years to run in the summer, Arsenal would have to break the bank in order to sign the defender.
