Arsenal are set for a huge overhaul this summer and one area of focus is likely to be in the midfield area, where there is plenty of issues for the Gunners to resolve.

Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere both see their contracts in north London draw to a close this summer, whilst Aaron Ramsey has also entered the final 18 months of his deal and there has been suggestions to indicate he could be sold this summer if he does not renew.

That would leave just Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka as Arsenal’s only two senior central midfielders, so it’s understandable that the club are eyeing targets for the summer- and a huge boost has been issued in the chase for Schalke’s Max Meyer.

Reports cited by The Daily Mirror state the German side have started to look for replacements for the 22-year-old international, who’s fighting for a place in Joachim Lowe’s World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in Russia.

However, Arsenal face plenty of competition in the market for the midfielder as his services are also reportedly eyed by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, amongst others.
