3 things we learned from Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Ostersunds

Wilshere can’t do it all

Playing in a central role behind Welbeck and captaining the side, Jack Wilshere was one of few players to feature who was already established as a first-team regular and the lack of support around the England international left him frustrated and isolated.

The duo of Mohamed Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles behind him didn’t work, as it removed the blanket of protection for a frail defence, and Wilshere also lacked support in the final third where the rest of his colleagues were underperforming.

Admittedly it wasn’t a great performance from Wilshere himself but it showed that he’s the sort of player who needs support and isn’t a talent who can shine on his own- and Wenger must remember that moving forward.
