Inter Milan are reportedly close to signing Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez, according to SportItalia (via Football-Italia.net).
The Argentinian Under 20 international has been on Arsenal’s radar over the past year, but it has been reported in the past few months that the 20 year old would be joining Atletico Madrid.
However, it seems that Martinez has been subject to bids from Inter as well as a number of other European clubs.
The player revealed in a recent interview with Argentinian newspaper Clarin that he is in “advanced” with Atletico, but there also other interested teams:
“With Atletico Madrid the talks are very advanced, but they tell me that other teams are interested.”
Whether one of the teams is Arsenal, it is not known. Reports in Italy indicate that Roma and Real Madrid have also stepped up their interest in Martinez.
The striker has had a good first half to the season playing for Racing. After returning from a broken foot in October, he has scored four goals and provided two assists in six league appearances.
