Arsenal are out of the running to sign Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Gabriel Sans.

The Turkish playmaker has been heavily linked with the Gunners in the Spanish media over the past few months but the Catalan newspaper reports that Arda’s representative is now focused on securing a move to either AC Milan or Everton.

The player’s agent Ahmet Bulut is said to have been tasked with securing a move for the player back to either Turkey, Serie A or the Premier League. Turkish clubs such as Besiktas do not have the financial muscle to match the 30 year old’s wage demands, and therefore the other two destinations have looked more likely.

Mundo Deportivo report that Bulut has been trying to “convince” both Milan and Everton to sign the Turkish international. Arda’s salary and transfer fee are however proving a massive stumbling block in negotiations. The midfielder is on €7million a season (£120,ooo a week) while Barca would only sell for €20m.

The player wants his future resolved at the start of January, rather than dragging through the month. Protracted negotiations are however likely, and he may yet stay at the Camp Nou. The 30 year old is said to be determined to prove his worth to manager Ernesto Valverde but the midfielder is not part of the Barca coach’s first team plans.
