Arsenal are prepared to let Olivier Giroud join Borussia Dortmund as part of the deal they could see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move in the other direction, the Evening Standard reports.
Journalist Simon Johnson says that the Gunners will make an initial bid for the Gabon international worth £35m plus Giroud, in order to persuade Dortmund into selling the 28 year old.
Aubameyang has reportedly handed in a transfer request, and is seeking a move away from the Bundesliga club during this transfer window.
Arsenal are poised to lose Alexis Sanchez before the end of January, and it seems they are seeking a player who will replace the Chilean international’s goals in the team.
The Dortmund striker would more than fit the criteria as Sanchez’s replacement. So far this season, the Gabonese ace has scored 21 goals in just 23 games.
Giroud meanwhile has struggled for games for Arsenal with just nine starts in all competitions this campaign.
