Arsenal could snap up Ligue One ace for £28m less than previously thought

|

Monaco winger Thomas Lemar could be available for just €70m (£62m), according to RMC Sport.

The Ligue One side were said to have been holding out for £90m, £28m above this new figure, and it would certainly be an attractive deal for Arsenal if they have to replace Alexis Sanchez this month.

The Chilean international could be on his way to Manchester City before the close of the January transfer window, although manager Arsene Wenger has denied that any approach has been made by City.

Sanchez’s contract expires in six months, and this is the last chance for the Gunners to sell the 29 year old before he can leave for nothing next summer. The Guardian have said that a £20m bid has been placed by City but Wenger was insistent in his pre-match press conference yesterday that he “expects nothing” this month in relation to the Chilean leaving the Emirates.

Arsenal did reportedly have a bid accepted in the summer for Lemar, and if the London club had managed to get that deal over the line on deadline day, it is very likely that Sanchez would have made the switch to the Etihad stadium.
