Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Lautaro Martinez from Racing Club for €12million, according to Football Espana.
The Argentinian under 20 international had been interesting Arsenal, with the player’s agent Rolando Zarate having revealed at the start of this year that the Gunners had been scouting the forward.
Martinez is believed to be staying on at Racing Club until the summer when he will then move to Spain to join up with Diego Simeone’s squad. The Argentine has reportedly signed a six year contract with Atletico until 2024 demonstrating the La Liga’s side faith in the young player’s abilities.
The striker missed the start of the Argentinian Primera Division season with a broken metatarsal, but has returned to full fitness since late October. In the five matches he has played this campaign, he has scored three times already and provided one assist. The youngster no doubt looks like a real prospect for the future.
