Arsenal have registered an interest in Manchester United attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to journalist Graeme Bailey of the Gambling Times.
Bailey reports that the Gunners are lining up contingency plans if Alexis Sanchez leaves the Emirates and one of the players the club have asked about is the United star.
Mkhitaryan had a superb start to the season, with five assists in his first three games, but his form has dropped off markedly since the end of September, with his last goal and assist coming in the 4-1 away against CSKA Moscow.
The Armenian international has failed to make the match day squad for United’s last five Premier League fixtures, and was last seen coming on as a substitute in the League Cup tie against Bristol City earlier this week.
Inter Milan have been linked with a loan deal in January for the 28 year old but the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Team Talk) say that a move could be jeopardised by the fact that the Italian club are unwilling to agree to a purchase obligation at the end of the season.
In this context, Arsenal have reportedly let United know that they would also be interested in Mkhitaryan; a player the Red Devils only signed in 2016 for a reported £30m.
