Orobitg believes Serie A champions are leading the race for Arsenal defender

|

Spanish agent Josep Maria Orobitg has suggested that Juventus, rather than Barcelona, would be favourites to sign Hector Bellerin if the full back was to leave Arsenal in the future.

Orobitg, who represents Barcelona midfielders Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets, was talking to Italian newspaper Tuttosport (quotes via Tuttomercatoweb) about Juve’s interest in Roberto, when he also mentioned Bellerin:

“I doubt Arsenal will sell him, but in case I see Juve in the lead.”

Barcelona pursued Bellerin for a large part of the summer before turning to other targets once it was clear that the Gunners would not part with the 22 year old. The Spaniard reportedly asked Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to leave for Barca, but the Frenchman stood firm and kept the defender.

The Catalan club instead signed Nelson Semedo from Benfica, which would suggest that they will not return for Bellerin in the near future. Juventus meanwhile have been linked with the full back in the Italian media but it is very unlikely the Serie A club would have the funds to sign the Spaniard.
