Former Inter Milan midfielder Nicola Berti has encouraged Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to leave the Gunners for the Italian club.
Berti, who spent one season at London rivals Tottenham after leaving the San Siro, was asked by Rai Sports about who he thinks Inter should try to sign to improve the squad. He is quoted by La Nacion as saying:
“I would like to see Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. He is a true champion, capable of making a difference for at least three or four years … and what a partner he would be for Mauro Icardi.”
Sanchez’s current deal at the Emirates expires in the summer, and there has been no indication that the 28 year old will agree to a new contract. Manchester City may yet return with a January bid for the forward after failing with a £60m deadline day move for the player back in August.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told reporters last week that it was “possible” that both Sanchez and his team mate Mesit Ozil could be sold in January. The German has been more heavily linked with Inter than Sanchez, and it must be said that the club’s president Erick Thohir has already questioned the value of making transfer deals in the winter window.
