Arsenal are keen on signing Trabzonspor’s young midfielder Abdulkadir Omur, according to the Turkish club’s former technical director.
Speaking to Ajansspor.com, Sadi Tekelioglu revealed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of Omur’s abilities. Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also said to be in the running for the 18 year old but Tekelioglu says that Arsenal are ahead of the La Liga side in the race to sign Omur.
A right winger of diminutive stature, the Turkish under 19 international made his debut in a Turkish Cup match against Adanaspor back in January 2016. Since then, he has slowly been integrated into the first team squad.
The midfielder has established himself as a regular starter over the past month. He made his first assist after coming as a substitute against Genclerbirligi in early September and he has subsequently started the next three league games. His last outing came in a 2-2 draw against Besiktas, where he set up the first equalising goal for team mate Olcay Sahan.
