Arsenal could face uphill task to sign playmaker after La Liga giants enter the race

|

Real Madrid are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish publication reports that manager Zinedine Zidane and Real president Florentino Perez are keen to strengthen the La Liga champions’s squad after a poor start to the domestic season.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Draxler before the transfer window closed at the end of last month, but if they are interested in reviving their bid in January, they may have to battle Real for the German international’s signature.

The Spanish side want a new striker, a new defender and a new attacking midfielder either in January or next summer, with Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte also being lined up as potential targets.

Don Balon report that the only one of the three Real feel they can get in January would be Draxler. The 24 year old has been unsettled at PSG due to the arrival of both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at the club, but so far, he has continued to be selected in the first team by manager Unai Emery, having started the last three league games for the French club.
