Contrary to reports in the Daily Telegraph yesterday, Roma have not given up on signing Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to France Football Magazine.

The Algerian international, who has been linked with Arsenal in recent months, has been a subject of a number of bids from the Serie A side but so far the Foxes have rejected the Italian’s club’s proposals.

Despite the setbacks, France Football report that Roma have today made another bid of €38million or £34.6m, but this is still well short of Leicester’s asking price of £50m.

The Serie A team’s failure to capture the 2015/16 PFA Player’s Player of the Year will give Arsenal encouragement if they are still interested in Mahrez. The Gunners primary target has been Monaco’s Thomas Lemar but reports have suggested that manager Arsene Wenger has given up on signing the Frenchman. Whether they will turn their attentions back to Mahrez, it remains to be seen.
