Aston Villa are seeking to make a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel.

The 25 year old is out of contract in the summer, and it could be the case the Championship side are lining up an offer for the central midfielder if he leaves the Emirates at the end of the season.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Arsene Wenger confirmed that he wants Wilshere to stay at least until the end of the season, but he would not be drawn on what future the England international has beyond the current campaign:

“I plan him to be here for the whole season. After, we’ll see at the end of the season.”

The midfielder is still recovering fitness after sustaining a broken leg on loan at Bournemouth back in April. He played his first match on Monday in Arsenal Under 23s 3-2 win over Derby County.

No contract talks between Wilshere and the Gunners look to be on the horizon and it seems as though the club will allow the player to leave on a free transfer next summer, unless a club makes a bid before August 31st.
