The 22 year old has been heavily linked with a return to Spain in recent months but talking about his team mate (quotes via the Daily Star), Monreal does not believe the full back will be departing the club any time soon:
“He’s an Arsenal player today and will almost certainly remain there. Hector is a very important player for us and the coach has already told him that.”
Bellerin has spoken in the Spanish press about missing his parents who have now returned to live in Spain. This prompted headlines in the Catalan media that the right back wants a move to Barca.
There has been yet another twist today with Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez stating he haw asked Bellerin about his future, and that the player was torn between staying at Arsenal and leaving to play for his boyhood club.
The Spaniard will feature in this months’s European Under 21 Championships, and will likely be in the starting line up against Macedonia in the first group match on Saturday.
