Roma have made a €15million (£13.2m) bid for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, according to Leggo.

The Italian newspaper say that the Giallorossi’s Sporting Director Monchi has made the Turkish international one of the Italian club’s top transfer targets this summer.

Ozyakup was born in the Netherlands, but has Turkish ancestry, and he spent four years in Arsenal’s youth academy between 2008 and 2012 before leaving to play for Besiktas.

He has been constantly linked with a return to the Gunners over the past year, and his attributes as a central midfielder would match well with what Arsene Wenger is looking for this summer. With Santi Cazorla’s ongoing injury issues and doubts over Jack Wilshere’s future, the Gunners boss may have been eyeing Ozyakup as a solution to strengthen the midfield.

In 40 appearances last season, the 24 year old scored give goals and provided ten assists. With Roma making the first move though, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal enter a bid of their own or if they have moved on to other midfield targets.
