The French publication reports that the German side have agreed a fee of between €8m and €9m plus bonuses for the 20 year old. Arsenal had been linked with the highly rated French Under 20 international in recent months but Schalke moved head of the Gunners in the race for the player in the past few weeks.
A fortnight ago, Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel confirmed the club’s interest in Harit stating he was an “interesting player,” but it now seems they have secured a deal for the midfielder.
Harit only made his senior debut for Nantes against Dijon in August last year, but he became an instant first team regular, playing 34 times in all competitions last season. Although his one goal and one assist from midfield doesn’t suggest there is a great deal of end product currently, it seems Schalke are prepared to gamble he will develop his game over the next few years.
