Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Arsenal may well have placed a bid for a Barcelona player, but it was not for either Arda Turan or Rafinha.

The Catalan newspaper reports the La Liga side have received offers from three different clubs for midfielder Andre Gomes. Juventus and Manchester United are two of the teams who are interested in the player they say, but there seems to be some confusion surrounding the third club.

Mundo Deportivo are sure that the third club is a Premier League side, but they are not sure whether it is Arsenal or Tottenham currently. The likelihood is though that it is the Gunners, especially if you consider the central midfield situation at the club.

Arsene Wenger has three holding midfielders at his disposal currently in Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin, but he is struggling for players who can play further forward. Santi Cazorla will miss the start of next season due to injury while Jack Wilshere has one year left on his contract and could leave the Emirates. That leaves just Aaron Ramsey to make up the numbers.

Gomes has struggled since his €35m move from Valencia last summer but it seems as if Barcelona are looking to keep hold of the Portuguese international. Catalunya radio (via Mundo Deportivo) report that a bid of €35m (£31m) from one club was rejected by Barca. Whether that offer came from Juventus,Manchester United, Arsenal or Spurs, it is not known.
