Arsenal set to be subject of £35m bid from Premier League rival

|

Manchester City will be the first club to make a move for Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin, Spanish newspaper Sport reports.

Manager Pep Guardiola and Director of Football Txiki Begiristain are both said to be keen on the 22 year old, but they won’t make a bid before the end of the season or before manager Arsene Wenger’s future is resolved.

Sport state that a bid of at least €40million (£35m) could be launched by City as they look to head off a challenge from Barcelona for the full back.

Barca have made Bellerin the club’s number one summer transfer target, according to another Catalan newspaper the Mundo Deportivo, but Sport report that contacts between the La Liga club and the player have gone quiet in recent days as uncertainty remains over the priorities of the team’s next manager.

Ex-Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde is the hot favourite to take over from Luis Enrique when Barcelona announce their new head coach on Monday, but where Bellerin figures in his plans it is unknown.
