Arsenal could hijack £35m deal as agent holds out for more offers

|

Roma have agreed a €40m (£35m) deal with Atalanta for midfielder Franck Kessie, but the the 20 year old’s agent is said to be waiting for offers from the Premier League, and from Paris Saint-Germain, before rubber stamping the transfer, according to the Corriere di Bergamo (via Football-Italia.net).

The Guardian interviewed Kessie’s agent George Atangana at the end of December and he revealed that Arsenal were among five Premier League clubs keeping an eye on the midfielder.

The Ivorian has had a remarkable breakthrough season in Serie A, and despite playing in a holding midfielder role, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 22 matches so far this campaign.

He was loaned out to Serie B team Cesena last season but he is now commanding a huge transfer fee. Roma look to be still favourites for the 20 year old with a deal already in place, but it seems both the player and agent could be holding out for a move to the Premier League.
