Pursuit of £19m defender looks set to end in failure for Arsenal

|

Wolfsburg full back Ricardo Rodriguez is determined to leave Germany in the summer to join Inter Milan, according to tuttomercatoweb.com.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport reported last week that the Swiss international had already made up his mind about making the switch to Italy but no move took place in the January transfer window.

It led to Marseille making an enquiry about signing the 24 year old but this was swiftly turned down by the left wing back. He has also reportedly turned down offers from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal if reports in the Italian media are to be believed.

The Gunners have been linked with Rodriguez heavily over the last couple of years. No official bid has ever been made however. There maybe still some hope for Arsenal though. Wolfsburg president Hans Dieter Potsch is demanding that Inter meet Rodriguez’s €22million (£19m) buyout clause for the player, which may prove a stumbling block to the deal going ahead in the summer.
