Calciomercato.it are reporting that Roma defender Kostas Manolas will leave the Italian club this summer after failing to agree a contract renewal with the  Serie A side.

Manolas was reportedly the subject of a €40m bid from Arsenal last summer, but reports in Italy suggest the Gunners are still interested in the Greek international, with Inter Milan and Juventus also joining them in the race for the 25 year old.

The centre back could still be allowed to leave for €40m (£34.5m) but Roma’s hierarchy are hoping the trio of clubs may compete to up the price closer to €45m (£39m). Calciomercato.it also assert that Inter are the favourites after originally failing in their attempts with a €42million (£36m) offer.

Inter’s owners the Suning Group were not able to guarantee any payments up front, and wanted to pay in installments which was not acceptable to Roma. Still, the Milan club were believed to have already agreed personal terms of €4million a year with Manolas.

It is also questionable whether the Gunners remain interested in Manolas after previously opting against signing the defender in the summer in favour of Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi.
