Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has poured cold water on reports linking him with the manager’s job at Barcelona.
The Italian was linked with a move to the Camp Nou by the Daily Express at the weekend, but speaking at a pre-match press conference before Juve’s Coppa Italia match against Napoli tonight, Allegri joked his linguistic abilities are too poor to be learning other languages. He is quoted by Goal.com as saying:
“I am learning English and Spanish? I struggled to learn Italian at school!”
Allegri has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in the summer, and was reportedly in “advanced talks” with the Gunners according to the Daily Express last month, although the veracity of the report seems questionable.
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique meanwhile has come under heavy criticism after the 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League but a 2-1 win against rivals Atletico Madrid in the league at the weekend have eased the pressure on the Spaniard.
