Arsenal had a scout watching Benfica’s 3-0 win against Nacional yesterday, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese newspaper suggest that the Gunners, along with a number of other clubs including Barcelona and Manchester United were in the stands to watch a host of Benfica stars.

They report that Barcelona, in particular, were there to watch Benfica’s young Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, a player that has also been linked with the Gunners in recent months. It is more than likely that Arsenal were there to see the 23-year-old after losing out to Paris Saint-Germain for Ederson’s former Benfica team mate Goncalo Guedes.

The keeper did not start the season as first choice at Benfica, but after starting against Chaves in the league back in late September, he has now started the last 15 league games. So far this campaign, the Brazilian has made 24 appearances, and kept an impressive 14 clean sheets in the process.
