Aston Villa are interested in signing Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

They will join Brentford in the race for the 21 year old who are looking for replacements for Scott Hogan, with the forward looking set to depart for West Ham this month.

Akpom has already been on loan spells at Hull City, Nottingham Forest, Coventy City as well as Brentford in the past few seasons but has so far failed to make an impact during his time away at the Emirates.

Villa boss Steve Bruce clearly is a fan though. Akpom made 41 appearances under Bruce at Hull last campaign and it now seems he wants the forward to join him once again at Villa Park.

The striker has struggled with a back problem this season and has only managed four starts for Arsenal’s Under 23s, and one appearance for the senior side in the third round of the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest back in September.
