Arsenal are interested in signing Santos’s young striker Rodrygo, according to Portalodia. The Brazilian website say that the starlet has been invited to play for the Gunners.

They also report that two other Premier League clubs have also looked into signing the forward. The Brazilian has yet to feature in Santos’s first team and only recently turned 16.

He has not signed a professional contract and is free to negotiate terms with any club, prompting Arsenal to make their move. Santos are however hopeful of securing a deal for the player after beginning contract discussions last week.

Rodrygo’s representative, businessman Nick Arcuri, told Portalodia that the player wants to stay in Brazil:

“We have all the interest in the world to keep Rodrygo in Santos.”

Santos have scheduled a second meeting this week to try and come to an agreement over a financial settlement but they will need to fight hard to resist the riches of the Premier League.

Rodrygo scored over 120 goals in Futsal at under nine level, before progressing to finish runner up in Nike Cup Under 15 tournament being named the best player after scoring 10 goals. He then helped win the Zico Cup, being named player of the tournament after scoring 19 goals.
