Arsenal succumbed to their first defeat in the Premier League since the opening day, losing 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park.

So here are my Arsenal player ratings from tonight’s game:

Petr Cech – The Czech goalkeeper conceded to goals, but couldn’t do nothing about either. Apart from Everton finding the back of the net twice, Cech had a quiet night. 5/10

Hector Bellerin – The Spaniard offered pace and an overlap down the right flank but was a little restricted going forward due to the threat Everton have to offer on the left side. 5/10

Gabriel – The Brazilian centre-back covered the ground well and his positional play was good also. Was good in the air as well. 5.5/10

Laurent Koscielny – Despite his poor marking for the corner in which Everton scored from, the Frenchman was solid throughout and Arsenal would have conceded a lot more if not for Koscielny. With Gabriel, he contained the threat of Romelu Lukaku. 6/10

Nacho Monreal – struggled early on as Everton bombarded the left flank, but he did well. Got forward whenever he could but, like Bellerin, was restricted. 5/10

Francis Coquelin – Wasn’t afraid to get stuck in, fought hard in midfield to retrieve possession and also found himself in good positions in the final third. 6/10

Granit Xhaka – Like Coquelin, the Swiss midfielder got his foot in and showed some heart. Kept things neat and tidy and played some nice passes. 5.5/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Failed to make an impact in the game and at times wasn’t doing his defensive duties. Needs to play better than that if he wants to continue in the starting line-up. 4.5/10

Theo Walcott – Was equally, if not, poorer than Chamberlain tonight. Couldn’t get into the game and offered minimal threat with his runs forward. 4/10

Mesut Ozil – Started the game off well by coming deep to collect the ball and get things moving. Unfortunately, the German playmaker create anything worth noting. 4.5/10

Alexis Sanchez – He did cover a lot of ground and put Arsenal ahead, but the Chilean striker was nullified by the defensive display of Everton 6/10

SUBS:

Olivier Giroud – Came on for Walcott in the 70th minute and held the ball up well when in possession but didn’t add anything or strengthen Arsenal going forward. 5/10

Alex Iwobi – Arsene Wenger threw him on for Chamberlain with 20 minutes hoping he would do better than his team-mate…he didn’t. 5/10

Lucas Perez – Replaced Coquelin straight after Everton’s second goal in the 87th minute but didn’t have enough time to get into the game. N/A
