Premier League sides West Ham, Sunderland, Stoke City, Hull City, Burnley, Watford and Championship club Aston Villa have all contacted Arsenal about the availability of right back Carl Jenkinson, according to ESPN FC.

Their sources report that Aston Villa actually have the upper hand over the other six sides currently as Steve Bruce’s team have opened talks with the Gunners in view to a potential loan move in the January transfer window.

Jenkinson has now fully recovered from a serious knee injury which cut his second loan spell at West Ham midway through last season. After a successful rehab, the 24-year-old returned to first-team action against Reading in the EFL Cup back in October. He has subsequently made a further five appearances this season for the Gunners.

ESPN say Arsene Wenger still believes the England international has a future at the Emirates Stadium but he is unlikely to get the game time he needs to recover full match sharpness with first-choice Hector Bellerin keeping him out of the side.
