Arsenal are reportedly chasing AZ Alkmaar youngster Jasper Schendelaar.
The 16-year-old, who has a contract with the Eredivisie outfit until 2019, is currently plying his trade with the club’s Under-21 side, and TMW (via TribalFootball) claim Arsenal have opened talks with AZ about a deal for the young goalkeeper when the January transfer window opens.
It’s believed negotiations are at an advanced stage and Schendelaar is expected to join the Gunners next month.
Schendelaar is a Netherlands Under-17 international and has been capped four times since making the breakthrough in September last year.
AZ clearly see the youngster as a hot prospect, hence the length of his current contract. But a potential move to Arsenal may be too hard to turn down for the Dutch starlet.
Arsenal have been linked with promising goalkeepers in recent weeks, with Crotone’s Aniello Viscovo also supposedly on the north London club’s radar.
