Wolfsburg have announced the signing of Riechedly Bazoer from Ajax.

German magazine Kicker report that the transfer fee was approximately £10million and he will join the German side when the transfer window opens up next month.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the past few weeks, and, according to Wolfsburg Sporting Director Olaf Lebbe, the Bundesliga club had to fight off stiff competition from a number of ‘renowned clubs’ in order to secure the signing of the Dutch international. Lebbe was quoted by The Sun as saying:

‘We have had a close on Riechedly Bazoer for quite some time and we are delighted that he has opted to sign for Wolfsburg, in spite of having further offers from other renowned clubs.’

Bazoer, who already has six caps for the Netherlands, had fallen out-of-favour at Ajax this season under new coach Peter Bosz. The midfielder had been a first-team regular under previous manager Frank De Boer but struggled for game time this campaign with just three starts in the league, and ten appearances in all competitions, mostly from the bench.
