Cut-price deal could tempt Arsenal in January

|

Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler could be available for just £25million in the January transfer window, according to Le Parisien.

The French newspaper say that Paris Saint-Germain are front runners for the 23-year-old’s signature. The Ligue One side had a £58.6million bid rejected in the summer but are now preparing a deal worth under half that amount as Wolfsburg look to cut their losses on the player.

The Bundesliga side’s owners Volkswagen are looking to downsize their investment in the club, and with the team sitting perilously close to the relegation zone, they are prepared to let some of their stars go in January to offset any losses from dropping down a division.

Keeping Draxler has not worked out well for Wolfsburg after the German international declared he wanted to leave in the summer, and the midfielder has failed to score or provide an assist in 12 matches this season.

The fact that the player was left out of the squad entirely for the match against Bayern Munich last weekend suggests that Draxler will leave in January.

Juventus and Arsenal have also been heavily linked with the German and considering Wolfsburg bought him for just under £30 million in 2015 and are prepared to sell him at a loss which may tempt Gunners boss Arsene Wenger into making a bid.
