Lucas Perez’s agent has dismissed rumours of the striker being unhappy at Arsenal and will not be sent out on loan when the January transfer window opens.

The Spanish striker, 28, joined Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna over the summer for £17 million, but has found game time hard to come by at the Emirates, playing just 87 minutes of Premier League football thus far.

Alexis Sanchez has occupied the centre-forward role for Arsenal so far this season, with Olivier Giroud currently being used as a back-up to the Chilean.

And with Danny Welbeck soon to return to the fold, Perez’s chances to feature regularly will become severely limited, which has led to speculation of the striker leaving on loan this January.

But Perez’s agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Llovelle, has played down speculation linking his client with a move away from Arsenal:

‘He’s not playing because he is injured.

‘He has no intention of leaving, Arsenal and Wenger are very happy with him. Maybe try asking them!

‘He’s only thinking about Arsenal at the moment.’

Perez, who scored a brace against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup, is currently nursing an ankle ligament injury he picked up in October which has ruled him out of action for six weeks.
