Arsenal and Manchester United had scouts watching the match between Boavista and Sporting Lisbon on Saturday night, and according to Abola, both clubs were there to run the rule over young Sporting winger Gelson Martins.
The 21 year old has been in excellent form for Jorge Jesus’s side this season, and he would have impressed the onlooking scouts even more by providing the assist for the only goal of the game, scored by striker Bas Dost, in the 1-0 win over Boavista.
So far this season, Martins has racked up a hugely impressive eight assists in 11 league matches, and he has started every league match and Champions League group stage game so far this campaign.
The Portuguese star made his debut for the national side at the start of last month, and created two goals in just his second cap as Portugal ran out 6-0 winners over the Faroe Islands in World Cup Qualifying.
