West Brom reject chance to sign Arsenal starlet

|

West Brom have rejected the chance to sign Arsenal youngster Tyrell Robinson after a trial with the Midlands club.

The Baggies have had the 17-year-old train with them at The Hawthorns in recent times, with the teenage winger believed to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium.

Robinson scored for the West Brom U23’s team in a win over their Fulham equivalents last month and also feature in a defeat to Wolves soon after.

However, despite the Gunners man impressing, academy manager Mark Harrison has confirmed that the young attacker will not be joining the Premier League side.

“He trained well and acquitted himself well in the games,” Harrison told The Birmingham Mail.

“He worked really hard and showed a good attitude.

“But sometimes you need to look at your own players and who is ahead of them in the system.”

Arsenal’s need to recruit top-class, established players in the transfer market will have a knock-on impact on the club’s youth system, with it only natural that young players will leave in search of first-team football.

It is believed that Robinson will now return to North London and fight for a place in age-grade level teams at the Emirates Stadium.
