Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged in-form attacker Alex Iwobi to keep his feet on the ground if he is to reach his potential with the North London club.

The Nigeria international is a product of the fabled Gunners youth academy and made his breakthrough with the Premier League title-hopefuls last season.

Iwobi has suffered from injury at the start of this campaign, but Wenger has turned to him in recent matches after the starlet’s return to fitness.

The versatile forward started both the 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek and the 4-1 Premier League victory over Hull City.

Iwobi picked up the man-of-the-match award in the win at the KCOM Stadium, providing two assists for the visitors and putting in an impressive individual showing.

Despite the hype around the young winger increasing in the press, Wenger has told his starlet to keep his feet on the ground and keep doing what he is doing.

“Yes, he had a good performance, and you want him to improve,” the French coach told the club’s official website.

“He is 20 years old, and I think he has talent, he has ambition, he has a big passion for the game and until now he has humility. We have to take care that he keeps that quality, because it’s an important one.

“But he has gained confidence and power. I believe as well he has a good combination between quick passing, picking players out and running with the ball. He gets that balance right, until now, and that’s not easy.”
