Wenger reveals why he rejected lucrative offer

|

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confessed that he could have move back to his homeland to assume control at Paris Saint-Germain but stayed in North London because of his love for the Premier League club.

The Frenchman is the Premier League’s longest-serving manager at the one club, with the veteran overhauling the Emirates Stadium side’s fortunes over time in England.

However, given Wenger’s achievements in the game, the former Monaco boss clearly has had offers of employment from overseas clubs.

With Arsenal set to face PSG in the first game of the new Champions League campaign, Wenger has been speaking out about his link to the Ligue 1 giants.

The Gunners boss has confessed that he knows the capital city outfit’s owners but would not be tempted to leave the North London side for a switch to his homeland.

“Because I love where I am,” Wenger said when asked why he rejected PSG, as reported on Metro.

“I know well the PSG owners but I feel always I remained loyal to Arsenal Football Club because I think it’s a club that has the qualities I love. And that’s why.

“This is an important game but I don’t think it goes beyond two good sides playing against each other.

“There’s no symbolism to it, no symbolic meaning to this match. We just want to pick up the three points.”

The Gunners will hope to take advantage of questionable recent PSG form when the teams clash at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.
