New Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has stated that the other players at the Emirates Stadium have been very welcoming and that he is glad to be on the North London outfit’s books.

The Switzerland international was signed by Arsene Wenger’s men to add much-needed brawn to the heart of the Gunners team, with a big fee needed to capture him from German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

Arsene Wenger has used Xhaka sparingly so far, with the former Basel enforcer getting a start against Watford at Vicarage Road but sitting out recent clashes with Southampton and Paris Saint-Germain.

The gifted central midfielder has stated that he already become friendly with a host of the Arsenal players and that he is proud to be a Gunners player.

“I’ve been welcomed really well,” Xhaka told the club’s official website.

“My team-mates are great – very friendly, very nice and they know when to have fun and when to be serious. That’s why I feel really happy here.

“I’ve done a lot with Santi Cazorla and Hector Bellerin, but I have a good understanding with all my team-mates. I think it’s important to have that and that you don’t leave anyone behind.

“I think it always helps when you’re with each other for almost 24 hours a day, when you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together. You get to know each other better and quicker, and that’s important too.”

A section of the Arsenal support called for Xhaka to start against PSG but Wenger opted for Cazorla and Francis Coquelin against the French champions.
