Reported Arsenal target Jonny Evans is set to spurn interest from the Gunners and pen a new and improved contract with West Brom, according to The Telegraph.
The North London side were consistently linked with a move for the Northern Ireland international over the course of the summer, as Arsene Wenger looked for defensive reinforcements after injuries in pre-season.
Arsenal ended up signing Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, with the Germany international adding experience and a physical presence to the French coach’s options at the back.
It looks like Evans is ready to draw a line under speculation linking him with the Emirates Stadium side, with the 28-year-old ready to extend his time at The Hawthorns with improved terms.
The former Manchester United defender would have made a versatile acquisition for Arsenal but Wenger may well deem that he now has enough options in his back four following Mustafi’s capture.
