Arsenal youngster Julio Pleguezuelo has joined Mallorca on a season-long loan, according to reports in Spain.
The 19-year-old centre-back is highly-rated amongst the youth coaches at Arsenal and captained the club’s Under-21 side last season.
It is being reported by Diario de Mallorca, as suggested by talkSPORT, that the teenage defender will continue his development at the Spanish club for the entirety of the upcoming campaign.
Several offers had reportedly been tabled for Pleguezuelo’s services this summer, but the Spaniard jumped at the chance to return to his birthplace and play for Mallorca.
The Second-tier Spanish club supposedly asked Arsenal if there was any chance of inserting a clause to buy the agile centre-back outright at the end of the loan next summer, but it was quickly dismissed, with the Gunners expecting Pleguezuelo to breakthrough to the senior squad in the coming years.
Pleguezuelo’s move to Mallorca would certainly do wonders for his development, providing he gets game time at the Spanish club.
