Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann was interested in a potential move to Arsenal earlier this summer before extending his contract with the Spanish side, according to journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.
The diminutive and versatile attacker has been a revelation since moving to the Vicente Calderon from Real Sociedad and starred for France at Euro 2016 over the summer.
Griezmann has been linked with a big-money move elsewhere over recent months and years, but Atletico have been quick to ensure the France international will stay in the capital and have extended his deal with Diego Simeone’s men.
Griezmann was also wanted by Man Utd (as I wrote in June) and PSG. Player not keen on either team.

Giulianelli has stated that the gifted attacker was not taken with potential moves to other suitors Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United but would have been open to a switch to Arsenal had the Londoners been serious about their interest.
Griezmann’s performances for club and country in recent times have propelled the forward into the world-class category and the star would have been a standout addition for the Gunners.
