Toulouse coach Pascal Dupraz has revealed that new Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder could have moved to Arsenal.

The 25-year-old striker has forged a venerable reputation for himself in French football, consistently finding the net for his boyhood club in Ligue 1 over recent campaigns.

Ben Yedder is believed to have been in high demand this summer, with a host of English clubs including Arsenal linked with the centre forward.

However, Sevilla have confirmed that the gifted poacher has moved to the Stadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, and will replace Kevin Gameiro, who has left the Andalusian club to join domestic rivals Atletico Madrid.

Had things been different, it may well be the Gunners that are unveiling Ben Yedder but it was seemingly not to be.

“He could have gone to Arsenal,” Dupraz told Estadio Deportivo.

“However, Sevilla are also a great club and I think the Spanish league is perfect for him because it’s one-touch football and very offensive.”

Arsenal are running out of time to sign a new centre forward before the new season starts, with a number of reported targets either unavailable or moving to other teams.
